95% of the people who read Decibel probably don’t care about this, but we just put the finishing touches on our 2008 Baseball preview and it’s a good ‘un. Since the Decibel editors are always looking out for what’s “next,” I’m campaigning heavily for a preview of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Hockey — even in its bloodless, sanitized international form — is pretty metal. Sliding down frostbitten hills in grim forests on sleds? Check. Ice skating? Ummmmm…we’re not sure about that one. But here’s French figure skater Brian Joubert, who dominated competition in 2006 (winning gold metals in every event he participated in) by skating to a medley of Metallica covers by Apocalytica and wearing rags borrowed from Dani Filth’s closet:
